* Dietary Changes or Indigestion One of the most common reasons for yellow poop is a recent change in your dog's diet or food intolerance. This can happen if you introduce new food too quickly, or if your dog eats something unusual or fatty. Their body might try to get rid of the unfamiliar food quickly, leading to an upset stomach and diarrhea, and the rapid transit time means bile doesn't have enough time to turn the stool brown.
* Bile and Liver Issues Bile, produced by the liver, is what normally gives poop its brown color. If there's a problem with bile production or flow (due to liver disease, gallbladder issues, or blocked bile ducts), the stool can appear pale yellow or even clay-colored. This might be accompanied by other symptoms like loss of appetite, vomiting, or yellowing of the eyes (jaundice).
* Pancreatic or GI Disorders Conditions like pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) can interfere with digestion and result in yellow, greasy, or foul-smelling stool.
