Spring brings melting snow, emerging wildflowers, and active wildlife. It's a transitional season, with some trails still snow-bound, especially at higher elevations. Ideal for early season hiking in lower elevations like the Trail of the Cedars, bird watching, and biking the Going-to-the-Sun Road before it opens to vehicles. Be aware of muddy conditions and potential bear activity as animals emerge from hibernation.

Summer is peak season with all roads and most trails open. Perfect for hiking iconic trails like Grinnell Glacier and Highline Trail, camping, boating on Lake McDonald, and scenic drives along Going-to-the-Sun Road. Expect crowds and book accommodations and vehicle reservations well in advance. Long daylight hours provide ample time for extended exploration and wildlife viewing at Logan Pass and Many Glacier.

Autumn showcases stunning fall foliage, fewer crowds, and crisp air. Excellent for hiking and photography as the larch trees turn golden, particularly in areas like the Many Glacier Valley. Some facilities begin to close towards the end of the season, typically by mid-October. Wildlife is very active as they prepare for winter. It's a great time for a peaceful visit with vibrant colors.
